This is the first piece I did in marble and although I still like its shape I feel it is too much influenced by a stereotypical view of what a stone carving should look like in the modernist tradition.

I don't tend to like smooth, polished forms and I really DON'T like polished white marble, but this seemed to work quite well, I don't think I put a high finish on it, as I remember I machine-sanded it then applied sealant to get the ' wet -look '.

It has resided in my parents garden since 1995 and is standing up well !.
