This was meant to be my version of a Celtic three-faced head. I wanted to keep a roughly-made feeling to it to reflect a primitive culture.  This is the only time I have used this red sandstone and I found it  troublesome  being quite crumbly, made it hard to to carve any kind of fine edge. The commissioners of the piece decided they did not want a smooth surface treatment so I left it with a slightly pummeled surface.

' Trias ' is a term for the geological age this particular stone comes from. It is also a term in Greek for a group of three.
