   Bone breccia

 Bone Breccia       1998     Sandstone  15 X 30 X 48 cm

FOR SALE

Carved from a square block of an unknown honey-coloured sandstone, from a clay maquette. As the work progressed it appeared to resemble fossilized broken bones, hence the title, ' bone breccia '  which is a geological term for broken bones and rocks fused together.

I see this as one of my most successful sculptures as I feel it has a more natural , less contrived arrangement of forms, where the rough elements complement the smoother, more defined elements. See the maquettes page for the original clay model I used.
